Third Fire Station Opens in Troy

Troy city officials celebrate the opening of a new fire station.

The station located on elba highway is the third fire station for  Troy. Troy Fire Chief Michael Stephens says it’s expected to cut down response times in half, with about 3 to 5  minutes.  6 additional people were hired to Troy’s fire department for the opening of the new station.  While the station celebrated with a ribbon cutting today. Officials say the station has already responded to calls during severe weather over the weekend.

“It’s all about coverage and how quick we can get there with proper equipment and with running ems calls the more spread out your department is the better it is for response times to help the citizens,” says Fire Chief Michael Stephens.

Chief Stephens says the opening of the new station will also help tremendously with ratings in the next couple of years, from the insurance service office.
