Suspected Pelham Car Thief Caught in Greenville

Greenville Police say they arrested a suspected car thief after investigating a shop lifting call on Saturday.

Police were called out to the Fred’s Super Dollar store this weekend after employees say they witnessed a man attempting to shoplift from the store. Police say they arrived and begin questioning the man, 22-year-old Frank Williams of Birmingham, when they realized there was more to the story.

They ran the tags on the car Williams was driving, a black 2013 Kia Forte, and discovered it had been reported stolen from the Pelham area the day before.

Williams was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property. He is being held in the Butler County Jail on a $20,000 bond. The car was returned to its owner on Monday.
