Dallas Co. DA Gets $300,000 Grant to Fight Gangs
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Governor Robert Bentley awards a $300,000 dollar grant to try and put a stop to gang violence in Dallas County.
District Attorney Michael Jackson says the grant will fund the Gang Taskforce.
Jackson says it will also help buy equipment and other resources needed for the fight against gang activity.
“Doing stakeouts, sweeps all that that entails a lot. You talking about gas, you are talking about equipment, bulletproof vests, guns. It’s just a lot of different things that go into these operations,” he said.
Jackson is urging the community to join the effort to put stop to gang activity in the area.
He says people can help by contacting authorities with anonymous tips about gang activity.
