Collier Era Begins at Selma Police Department

Today was the first official day on the job for new Selma police chief Spencer Collier.

Collier says his main focus as chief is developing a plan to improve public safety in the city.

He says that will make Selma a better place to live, work or locate a business.

“Talk about economic development the first question they ask is about the public safety,” said Collier.

“That makes it tough recruiting new businesses here. Now that’s the mayor’s job not mine but it all starts with public safety.”

Collier says he’ll start reaching out to the community for support and input as he continues to make an assessment his department.
