Gen. Hal Moore Of “We Were Soldiers” Passes Away In Auburn

American war hero and Retired General Hal Moore passed away Friday night.

You might recognize his name from the movie We Were Soldiers, where Mel Gibson played him on screen.

He led troops in the first major battle of the Vietnam War, overcoming tremendous odds to save most of his men.

Alabama News Network had a chance to interview him back in 2010 about his life.

Moore passed away in Auburn after suffering a stroke. Friends and family were in town to celebrate what would have been his birthday on Monday.

He was 94.
