Two Prattville Girls Raise Money for Veterans
MONTGOMERY, Al—–With Veterans Day coming up on Tuesday, sisters Maggie and Mylee Kervin found a sweet way to raise money for veterans.Â
The Prattville sisters are selling refreshing cups of lemonade and other snacks in support of the Wounded Warriors project, an organization helping veterans who come home from protecting our country.
“Its just great. Just great. They need all of the help they can get,” said Vietnam veteran Joe Sedinger. Â “They are raising this for the wounded warriors. Its just great. There is a lot of things they can do, but giving back to the military is great.”
Their mom, Kim Kervin, is happy to see that her daughters enjoy giving back to those in need in the communty.
“It’s a good feeling and I like for them to feel that feeling,” said Kervin. “Its makes them feel good when they go in in the afternoon to count how much money they raised. It’s a good feeling for them because they are excited about what is going to happen and what good is going to be done with it.”
Their efforts were even recognized by President George Bush, who sent Maggie and Mylee a letter to read to the veterans who stopped by.
“There’s two of them so I kind of feel like I am going to have a war between them when they realize how important it is,” said Kervin. “They are going to want the original. But I hope they one day understand the impact of being recognized by one of our country’s biggest leaders and what they are doing with their efforts, but more so that their efforts here today mean more than that.”
