Conviction in Alabama Day Care Abuse Stands

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – The Alabama Supreme Court has let stand the 20-year sentence that a Jefferson County day care center worker received for molesting a child.

The court on Friday declined to review an appeal by 79-year-old Robert Eugene Frost. He contended on appeal that he did not have an effective attorney when he was convicted in 2011 of sexual abuse of a child under 12. He also challenged his 20-year sentence.

The Supreme Court declined 5-0 to review Frost’s appeal after the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals ruled against him in July.

The child in the case attended Christian’s Day Care and Learning Academy in Cahaba Heights. Frost was known by the center’s children as “Mr. Bob.” He was arrested at the center in December 2010.
