Lowndes Co. Budget Includes Payraise for County Workers

From the West Alabama Newsroom– The Lowndes County Commission approves a nine million dollar budget for the county that includes an across the board raise for county workers.
Officials say county employees will get a five percent raise in pay — come October 1st. They say its the second year in row the commission has been able to give county workers a pay raise.
The county employs about ninety people.
“Say ninety families and each one has one child, husband, wife, you’re talking about 300 people roughly and that means that those children and moms and pops will be able to live a little bit better,” said Commissioner Carnell McAlpine.
County officials also say the budget includes a true reserve of about $400,000 dollars.
