Preps are underway in downtown Troy to bring a new flavor to a historic building along the square.

Owners of the Sweet Rack Rib Shack are busy moving their restaurant from Tallahassee to Troy. They have ties to the area and jumped on the opportunity to move into the old Pines building.

The rib shack will open in early February and employ about 30 people.

The owners hope to see downtown develop into an entertainment district to attract more people around the square.

Amanda Dickens, Owner Sweet Rack Rib Shack said, “I  think it will bring a lot more opportunities to listen to the bands or the music. I know they already do Troy Fest but this would be on a different level.”

Sweet Rack started off in 2007 just as a duo that traveled around the southeast in barbeque competitions.
