From the West Alabama Newsroom–  The man accused in a triple shooting at a Selma church makes a first appearance in court.

District Judge Bob Armstrong set bond for 26 year old — James Minter Junior — at three million dollars.

Minter is facing three counts of attempted murder in connection with a shooting at Oasis Tabernacle Church.

Minter’s ex-girlfriend, their one month old son and an associate church pastor Bob Carswell were all injured in the shooting.

“He come up in the House of God and tried to commit this act of murder,” said Carswell. “But he wasn’t going to kill that girl on my watch.”

Carswell says he and several other church members managed to take away Minter’s gun.

Minter then fled — but was captured by police not far from the church.

“Its a shame that you can’t even go to church now and not have to worry about getting shot,” said Selma resident David Lee.

A preliminary hearing in the case has been set for November 3rd.
