A man accused of stabbing another man at a night club in Troy has been convicted of manslaughter.

Aquantis Thomas went before a jury for the stabbing death of Jacobi Jones at a night club in July of 2012. Authorities say Thomas got into a fight with Jones at Club 29 on Three Notch Street in Troy.

After the ruling, the judge revoked Thomas’ bond and he is now in custody. Thomas will be sentenced on May 4th and could face 20 years in prison.

Assistant District Attorney Jeff Moore handled the case and says Jacobi’s family and the office are pleased with the guilty verdict. He wanted to thank the Troy police department for their handling of the case, and also the Pike County sheriff’s office for the security measures put in place during the trial. Moore says there were some tense moments. A family member fainted when the verdict was read.

Moore says there’s no replacement for a life, but a maximum sentence would send a clear message that this type of crime will not be tolerated in Pike County.
