With same-sex marriage still not accepted in all counties, one group at Troy University is hoping to spread their message of acceptance.
For the past two days supporters for marriage equality have stood outside of the Pike County Courthouse. Not representing any organization, just standing up for what they say is right.
Over at the University, the Troy Spectrum Alliance club aims to provide a safe zone. It’s not just for homosexual students, but also for anyone who wants to be an advocate for LGBT community.
Selena McEwen, PR for Troy University Spectrum Alliance said, “They’re not looking to infringe upon your rights by asking for marriage equality. They are just asking to feel accepted like their love is valid and when you live in a state that says it’s not it’s really hard and all they want is to feel like they are just as important as you are.”
The spectrum alliance meets every week on the Troy campus. They have a privacy policy in place to protect the members.
