Hot & Dry Pattern Continues

It was another hot day today. Temperatures easily topped out in the mid 90s across the area. It was also another day without a shower in sight across the river region. Tonight, skies will be remaining mostly clear across the area, with temperatures dipping into the lower 70s before sunrise. Tomorrow we will be right back into the mid 90s…

A Hot and Dry Week Ahead

A cold front is advancing through northwest Alabama this evening, and it will try to make its way through the river region overnight tonight. Ahead of the front, we have seen scattered thunderstorms fire up in the daytime heating. As we enter the evening hours, these storms should weaken and diminish. Skies will become mostly clear overnight, with lows dropping…

Cold Front Approaches

Tonight: Showers and Storms should be diminishing as we head through the rest of the evening, although we could see a few additional storms fire this evening, but most will stay dry. Skies will clear some overnight, and should eventually become partly cloudy. Overnight lows will be in the mid-70s this evening. Tomorrow: More scattered storms across the area as…

Back into the Mid 90s

We are fully back into the summertime weather pattern. The southeastern ridge has taken hold over the area, causing rain chances to go down, skies remaining partly cloudy, and temperatures to rise. The gulf low that was over Louisiana for the last several days is finally lifting to the north, with most of the associated moisture transport over Mississippi today….

Summer Pattern Returns

After a week of high temperatures holding in the upper 80s for much of the river region, it looks like we will have a return to the typical summer weather pattern with afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s and isolated afternoon storms. For this evening, rain and thunderstorm coverage across the area has really diminished, and it should…

A Rainy Week Ahead

It looks like we will finally see an end to the summertime pattern that has been upon us for the last several weeks. It looks like afternoon high temperatures will be significantly cooler this week, and rain chances significantly higher. The tropical disturbance over the northern gulf now appears to have no potential of becoming a tropical cyclone. However, it…

More Rain and Cooler Temps

It seems like everyday for the last several weeks has featured highs in the mid 90s with afternoon thunderstorms that fall apart after sunset. It looks like a storm system in the northern gulf will change that as we head into the work week.  In the meantime, tonight we could see a few thunderstorms across the river region, but they…

More Scattered Storms Sunday

It was another hot day today with many locations reaching the mid-90s.  Better rain coverage today provided some spots with some afternoon heat relief, and we can expect enhanced coverage of storms the next few days as well.  We should fall to 74 degrees tonight with clearing skies and southwesterly winds. We will continue to deal with the heat and…
