Below Average Heat And Low Rain Chances Through Friday

Thursday began on a nice note for central and south Alabama. Sure, it was a fairly warm and somewhat humid morning, but there was plenty of sunshine. Outside of a couple stray, isolated, and brief showers in west Alabama at midday, there wasn’t much going on through the morning.

Manageable Heat And A Few Downpours Wednesday

Wednesday morning featured a mix of sun and clouds. A handful of isolated showers formed prior to midday mainly across far south Alabama. However, more isolated and relatively small downpours form elsewhere throughout the afternoon and early evening. Overall, today’s rain chance remains small. Less Rain And Less Heat For The Rest Of The Week

Tuesday morning was sunny for some but cloudy for others. While a there were some showers in south Alabama early this morning, there’s no rain at midday. We could see some shower or thunderstorm development this afternoon or early evening.

Rain Likely Monday, Less Heat This Week

The extreme heat of last week and the weekend are behind us. However, we trade that for more clouds with a high chance for rain Monday afternoon and evening. Today’s rain comes courtesy in part to a rare summertime front pushing into south Alabama.

Potentially Dangerous Heat Continues Through Saturday

Friday is another sweltering day for central and south Alabama. It’s the fourth day in a row with a heat advisory in place. Afternoon heat index temperatures range from 104° to 110°. Actual air temperatures top out in the upper 90s. A couple spots could reach 100°.

Next-Level Heat And Humidity Through Friday

Oppressive heat and humidity continues today. By 11AM, the heat index was already well above 100° in most locations. Air temperatures were in the low to mid 90s by noon. A heat advisory continues until Friday evening across all of our area.

Oppressive Heat And Near-Zero Rain Chances To End The Week

Some clouds and areas of fog greeted us after sunrise Wednesday morning. The early morning clouds held temperatures a bit cooler at midday today compared to midday Tuesday. However, sunshine was abundant at midday, and temperatures and the heat index are off to the races this afternoon.

A Heat Advisory And Scattered Storms Tuesday

It seems we are in the midst of our hottest week of the year so far. The first heat advisory of the summer remains in effect until 7PM this evening. Peak heat indices could be as high as 107° this afternoon. High temperatures themselves range from the low to mid 90s.

Possibly Our Hottest Week Of The Year So Far

It may have felt like you walked into a wall of humidity as soon as you stepped out the door this morning. The high humidity today lent itself to heat index values in the mid 90s to low 100s by midday.

Less Rain, But More Heat This Weekend

It was a hot and humid Friday afternoon with scattered to numerous showers and storms about our area. Montgomery and the river region received rain early in the afternoon, but it didn’t take long for sunshine to return. Montgomery’s temperatures fell to 75° at 2PM, but rebounded to 85° at 4PM. Rain-free locations were in the low to mid 90s during the late afternoon.
