Arrest Made in Vaughn Lakes Deadly Shooting

The Montgomery Police Department has made an arrest in the Wednesday, April 13, shooting death of 21-year-old Anthony Rogers of Montgomery. MPD detectives charged James Thomas, 21, of Montgomery with one count of murder. Thomas turned himself in to MPD detectives on April 14. Watkins-Smith Wins School Board Run-off

In Montgomery County, there was a runoff for the District 7 seat on the board of education. Arica Watkins-Smith won the Democratic nomination over incumbent Roberta Collins.

Arica Watkins-Smith got 58.4 percent over Collins’ 41.5 percent. Collins was appointed to the board to fill Beverly Ross’ seat after she passed away last year.
