The Colorado Rockies say a fan was yelling the name of team mascot Dinger and not a racial slur during a game on Sunday. The Black player who was batting at the time isn’t so sure. Miami Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson said he didn’t hear the fan shouting at Coors Field in Denver. But a day later, he says he’s watched the video “at least 50 times” and says he keeps hearing a racial slur. Brinson said he hasn’t talked to the Rockies or the fan about the incident. The Rockies didn’t identify the fan. The club said it contacted the fan, who said he was trying to get the attention of Dinger, who was two sections over. Brinson played Monday night in San Diego and hit a home run.
