USFL relaunching next year, four decades after its birth

The United States Football League is relaunching four decades after the spring league shook up professional football in the mid-1980s. The new USFL will include at least eight teams and while no cities have been named the new USFL says it retains the rights to “key original team names.” The new spring league will partner with Fox Sports to broadcast its games. The original USFL was launched in 1983. The league folded in 1986 after a push by several owners including future president President Donald Trump to move to the fall and directly challenge the NFL.
