To see Action 8’s exclusive Lifesaver Radar systems, click “Layers” in the lower right of the radar image below.
Choose “Lifesaver Radar” to see the scans from our system near the Alabama-Mississippi state line.
Choose “Lifesaver SW AL” to see the scans from our system in the Wilcox County town of Pine Hill.
These X-Band scans cover approximately 60 miles. They are specially designed to scan the lower levels of the atmosphere where tornadoes can form.
This coverage is not available from any other TV station or website.
These radars cover the widely-known radar gap that exists because government radars are located far away from this area of the state. Action 8’s Lifesaver Radar systems are designed to complement those radars.
