Officials Refuse to Release Name of Man Killed by Alabama Police
Authorities are refusing to release the name of a man who was shot and killed by police in Alabama last weekend.
The deadly shooting in Talladega County is being investigated by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, where spokesman Jesse Thornton said Friday the department won’t identify the victim.
Thornton says in an email interview the State Bureau of Investigation doesn’t want the name made public. Local officials won’t release the name of the dead person, either.
The state says a Lincoln police officer shot and fatally wounded a man outside a convenience store in Eastaboga on Saturday morning. The man was reportedly armed with a gun when he was shot.
State authorities haven’t released details about what happened, but they say the officer wasn’t injured.
