Dangers of Issuing Protection Orders
Serving protection orders can be a dangerous job, but one man who does it says the reward outweighs the risk, and that’s keeping abused women and children safe.
Investigators for Alabama Legal Services like John White spends countless hours serving protection orders to those accused of domestic violence. White says he’s served almost 800 protection orders in the past four years. The job can be dangerous, because you never know who’s going to answer the door. For Non profits like the One Place Family Justice Center, a safe haven for abused women and children, having investigators serving long term protection orders didn’t exist a decade ago.
“Having investigators, where it’s their job primarily to serve those protection orders makes a big difference in the safety of the victims,” says Nathan Cook, Executive Director of the One Place Family Justice Center.
