New Leadership at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base
There’s new leadership at Maxwell Air Force Base. Col. Erik Shafa is the new commander over the 42nd Air Base Wing. Col. Shafa comes with a diverse military background that includes international affairs. The new commander is taking the reigns from his predecessor, Col. Andrea Tullos. She’s now in charge of Air Force Security Forces at the Pentagon. Under her leadership the base accomplished a lot, including training over 900 airmen for operations, as well as adding millions of dollars to expand the base.
“I wanna be able to really help to take what she started and bring it to the next level, bring it to fruition. She really helped me kinda get an idea what I’m going into the job, what I have, and what I’ll need,” said Col. Shafa.
Col. Erik Shafa is from California. He has a wife and two children. He says he’s looking forward to working with city leaders, as well as catch a few Montgomery Biscuits games.
