Three Individuals Arrested for 1st Degree Theft of Property
District Attorney Tom Anderson, Twelfth Judicial Circuit, announces indictment and arrest of three individuals, Marjorie Beasley of Troy, Al., Karen White of Honoraville, Al and Jeanette Holliday of Honroaville, Al. for 1st Degree Theft of Property.
All three are charged in connection with the largest theft case believed to have ever been reported in Pike County.
The investigation conducted by the Troy Police Department Investigative Division alleges that while employed at Whaley Construction Company of Troy, Al, Beasley and White conducted in a scheme which resulted in the theft of over $1,803,805.00 in just the past four years, based upon an audit of the business’s books.
Using the figures established during the specific audit years, it has been estimated that the theft will exceed in $5,500,000.00.
The investigation revealed that Holliday, the sister of Beasley and the mother of White, utilized the Whaley Construction Company’s Employee Insurance Program with the business paying the premiums which totaled in excess of $78,000.00.
Company records show that Holliday was never employed at Whaley Construction Company.
Beasley is also charged with 1st Degree Theft of Property in connection with money allegedly taken from Alec and Jane Whaley’s personal finances. According to audit records Mrs. Beasley took in excess more than $500,000.00 while handling the victim’s account.
The investigation is still ongoing and has the potential for additional charges as well as additional suspects.
