Georgiana Police Department Adds Three Newer Model Police Vehicles
A partnership with Mayor Nina Bonner  and Representative Shomari Figures has allowed the Georgiana Police Department to add three newer model police vehicles to their fleet, free of charge. The vehicles are gifts from larger municipalities, Irondale and Mobile.
“This is a show of partnership” says Mayor Bonner, who expresses appreciation to the leaders of Irondale and Mobile for their generosity and to Representative Figures for his support of Georgiana and hard work.
According to Georgiana Chief of Police Jeremy Peagler, the town only had two operational vehicles shared by four police officers. The sharing of vehicles placed a strain on the two Dodge Chargers which require increasing up-keep.
The addition of three Tahoes now makes room for additional police officers which Chief Peagler hopes to add to the force soon.
“We can bring in officers, he says. “We really need officers. I can’t express how serious that is when it comes to operating a full time police department”.
