Tuskegee Nursing Home Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19
The owner of the Magnolia Haven Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Tuskegee has issued a statement that it has been notified that a part-time employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
The notification was made on Tuesday, according to the statement. The employee is currently asymptomatic and quarantined at home, according to the nursing home.
The owner, Ball HealthCare Services, Inc., says it notified the Macon County Health Department and the Alabama Department of Public Health about this case. It says it has completed the process of informing all residents and their families, and staff members.
Out of an abundance of caution, the nursing home says it has completed testing of all residents and staff members. It did not disclose the results of those tests.
For several weeks, Magnolia Haven Rehabilitation & Health Care Center says it has restricted visitation and implemented infection control, following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
In addition to the daily cleaning and sanitizing provided by the staff, the facility was professionally cleaned and disinfected on Thursday as a part of the ongoing proactive efforts toward COVID-19 prevention, according to the statement.
Additionally, the facility says it has chosen to participate with the governor’s initiative allowing additional disinfection services by the National Guard. The initial planning meeting with the guard occurred on Wednesday.
