A Cold And Dry Weather Pattern For Now
Old man winter is back and it looks like he has lots of cold air to spread around for early January. We will experience cold night with lows in the lower to mid 30s. Despite abundant sunshine, daytime high temps will only manage reach the 50s. A frontal system will move into the state over the upcoming weekend. We expect a round of rain and possibly t-storms to work through the area Sunday into Monday. A surge of much colder air will move in behind the frontal passage. A mainly sunny and cold weather pattern will settle in through Wednesday. It gets more interesting as we head into the latter half of next week. Much colder air and moisture may be in the cards for us. The question is will they team up and produce a wintry precipitation event for us. There’s no doubt Arctic air will be over the region most of the week. Model data wants to develop an area of low pressure over the Gulf of Mexico. The GFS American model buys into the idea of a deep south snow event but the European model has the low weaker and with little impact on our weather. It’s still too early to discount either model, so we look at future model runs and update as the picture becomes clearer for area.
