What the Tech App of the Day:

BY JAMEY TUCKER, Consumer Tech Reporter

Almost everyone has their phone within arm’s reach while watching TV. Usually it’s for scrolling. But it can actually save you from wasting an entire night on something you wish you hadn’t started.

With thousands of movies and shows spread across streaming platforms, finding something worth your time has become harder than ever. That’s where an app called Binge comes in.

Think of Binge as a modern TV guide built for streaming. Instead of bouncing between Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and everything else, the app pulls it all together in one place. Right at the top, you’ll see what’s newly added across platforms, along with what’s currently trending.

Tap on a specific service and you’ll get a clean, easy-to-browse list of popular titles. It’s a lot simpler than digging through the cluttered home screens on most streaming apps. If you already know what kind of mood you’re in, you can filter by genre. Whether it’s comedy, action, or romance, it helps you get to a decision faster. And when something catches your eye, you can add it to a watchlist so you’re not starting from scratch the next time you sit down to
watch.

The more you use Binge, the more useful it becomes. It learns what you like and starts recommending similar movies and shows. There are a few extra features that make it stand out. You can watch trailers without leaving the
app, tap on actors to see their other work, and even check out trivia about the film. If you’re into horror movies, there’s even a “jump scare” timer that warns you when something’s about to happen. Consider it emotional protection.
Binge is free to use, with an optional subscription that unlocks additional features.

Binge is for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. There is another Binge app in the app store. Look for the one named “Binge: Movies and Shows”. If you’ve ever spent more time searching than actually watching, this might be one of those
apps that earns a spot on your home screen.
