Remote Area Medical hosts free healthcare clinic in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Remote Area Medical hosted a free pop-up clinic in Montgomery this past weekend.

Thousands of people went to the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl over the weekend to get free medical services. Patients were able to get free dental work. Cleanings, fillings, and extractions were completely free to those that came.

Remote Area Medical also offered full comprehensive vision exams and updated people’s prescriptions, while making their glasses on-site. They also had general health checkups which included skin tag removal.

“We are based out of Rockford, Tennessee, and we travel all around the country doing free healthcare clinics. It’s just really important that people have access to the care that they need. We are fortunate enough that we get to come down here and help all the people in Montgomery,” said Clinic Coordinator for Remote Area Medical, David Morales.

“This particular clinic is important because it helps people to not have to pay for those expenses, such as dental, vision, and medical services. It is essential because dealing with the way our healthcare system is doing these days, some challenges are there, and many people are without. So, we just want to be a blessing to individuals in our community,” said Fred Batten Jr., Pastor of Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Montgomery.

Remote Area Medical has now been offering free medical care to Americans across the nation for 41 years.
