A Rainy Weather Pattern

We continue with a strong to severe storm threat across our area tonight.  A tornado watch remains in effect until 11pm.  Some storms will be capable of damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, large hail, and a few tornadoes. Our concern is any discrete cells that could spin up a tornado during the evening hours.   Eventually, we expect a line or rain/storms to form and advance south and eastward through the area.  There’s still the possibly of a tornado along the line as well. Everyone should remain weather aware and be prepared to seek shelter when a warning is issued.

The rain and storms will have departed the area by midday Thursday.  We expect a mostly cloudy sky with temps managing the upper 70s for highs.  The frontal boundary that helped triggered the severe weather will shift south of us and stall along the gulf coast.  It will still be close enough for any waves that move along it to push rain back into our area. We believe this will be the case Friday through the weekend.  Periods of rain and storms will move through the area.  Rainfall potential is impressive and some areas could see 5+ inches of rainfall over the period.

High pressure will return and set us up for a mainly sunny and dry weather pattern early next week.  Temps will climb into the upper 70s to lower 80s for highs and lows in the lower to mid 50s.
