Sardis man killed in Dallas County crash

DALLAS COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A single-vehicle crash in Dallas County has claimed the life of a Sardis man.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. Sunday on Alabama 22 near the 17 mile marker, approximately one mile west of Selma.

State troopers say 64-year-old Samuel Jackson was fatally injured when the SUV he was driving left the roadway, hit a guardrail and a bridge before catching fire.

ALEA says the victim’s body was pulled from the vehicle and transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for positive identification.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
