Heat advisory through the Fourth of July, rain chance rises Sunday

Thursday was *another* very hot and humid day across central and south Alabama. High temperatures were in the mid 90s for most, while heat indices peaked near or above 105° during the afternoon. Few showers or storms formed during the afternoon, though Montgomery was lucky enough to have the most substantial storm of the day develop over town. Our area dried out quickly early in the evening. The rest of the night looks partly cloudy with lows in the mid 70s.

A heat advisory continues for central Alabama through at least Independence Day. Heat indices peak near or above 105° again on Friday and Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, temperatures warm into the mid 90s each day. Only isolated showers and storms form Friday afternoon. However, models still favor widely scattered showers and storms Saturday. Rain coverage looks even higher Sunday, with scattered showers and storms. That may hold high temperatures in the low 90s.

Rain coverage remains scattered each day for much of next week. That may finally bring the afternoon heat back down, with high temperatures generally in the low 90s next week. Rain coverage may decrease to become widely scattered again next weekend, but cooling showers or storms remain possible. Meanwhile, high temperatures may remain in the low 90s next Saturday and Sunday.
