Former Elmore County Teacher Found Guilty in Sex Trial

Montgomery, AL – Jeffrey Stanton was found guilty of a school employee having sexual contact with a student, a misdemeanor crime. Circuit Judge Ben Fuller also sentenced him to a year in the Elmore County Jail, the maximum penalty. 34-year-old Stanton must also register as a sex offender for life and can’t teach again. At the time of the incident, Stanton was a ninth-grade math teacher at Stanhope Elmore High School. He was also the head track coach and an assistant football coach. The victim told authorities in January of 2014 that she and Stanton had sex in his classroom in May of 2013.
