Using Social Media to ‘Keep Troy Beautiful’

One initiative in the City of Troy is hoping to use your selfies and social media pictures to keep the city clean. 

The non-profit Keep Troy Beautiful, along with the City of Troy, launched what they are calling a “social media intervention”. 
 
All you have to do is take pictures of litter, or a selfie of you cleaning up the city and post it to social media with #KTBPRIDENOTRIDE. 
 
They hope that encourages citizens to clean up and not ride by litter. 
 
Melissa Sanders, Exec. Director Keep Troy Beautiful said, “Lets show the city, the state the world that we take pride in Troy, Alabama and we want to keep it clean.”
 
They are also organizing a team up to clean up effort. Clean up supplies will be provided to groups of volunteers thru May 31st.

Be a part of something big… Make Troy Beautiful by volunteering in Troy’s 2nd Annual City-Wide Volunteer Clean-up Campaign – Team Up to Clean Up!

·         Select an area of Troy for collecting litter

·         Pick a date or dates during April 1, 2015 – May 31, 2015 for collecting litter

·         Recruit family, friends, neighbors, or co-workers to help you collect litter

·         Register your group, location, and date

·         Pick up your collection instructions and supplies

·         Collect litter on your selected date (be sure to have fun and take pictures!)

·         Report your results and celebrate your good deed!

·         Check KTB’s Facebook page for stories and photos from Troy’s 2nd Annual City-Wide Volunteer Clean-up Campaign – Team Up to Clean Up!

 

Plus, as an incentive registered volunteers are eligible to win a $100 VISA Gift Card, courtesy of TB&T.
