Publix Coming to Troy

A Public grocery store is coming to the city of Troy. The store will be located off of Highway 231 and George Wallace. The Publix is coming as a result of the millions of dollars in road improvements. The city says it will spend $8 to $10 million to connect U.S. Highway 231 to the Oak Park area and sportsplex. The city hopes the store will create more economic development opportunities. “People know that at Publix is going to a location they are going to be successful and there are many retailers that are going to follow them because of the exhaustive research in vetting process they do in communities they are certainly a first class organization,” said Jason Reeves, Troy mayor. Publix is expected to open in February 2017. The road project will begin in June and is expected to be completed by fall 2016.
