Troy Elementary School’s proud of some sharp shooters.
The elementary school archery team placed second in the state archery competition.
This is the first time the school’s placed since 2008. The fourth and fifth graders will head to Kentucky to the national championship on May 9th. That’s the largest archery tournament in the world. They will face off against close to 14,000 other archers.
Forrest Lee, archery coach said, “It’s like they’ve caught a fever so to speak. They are real excited about it. I’ve got first, second third graders, chomping at the bit ‘Coach when can I do archery?’ It’s real good for our school system.”
Kassidy Mizell, a fifth grader said, “I look forward to coming and practicing because my coach, Coach Lee, he’s always nice and always helps you to become the best archer you can be.”
The students are very disciplined. They are practicing more than three times a week after school leading up to the national competition.
