Salaries of Public University Presidents in Alabama

The salaries of many university presidents in Alabama are well into the six figure amounts. 

According to a report from the Chronicle for Higher Education, the median base pay for public-college presidents in 2014 was $400,000.

In our state, outgoing Alabama University President Judy Bonner made $670,000 in 2014. At Auburn University, President Jay Gogue made nearly $488,000.  Troy University Chancellor Jack Hawkins made $467,000.  Embattled UAB President Ray Watts made $552,000 in 2014. 

The highest paid public university president in the country was Rodney Erickson at Penn State. He made $1,500,000 in 2014.
