Exelis Action Corps Volunteers Rebuild Korean War Veteran’s Home

It’s that time of year where we give thanks for what we have. One Montgomery organization is thanking a Korean War veteran in a very special way.

83-year-old veteran Lindsey Kirksey has lived his Montgomery home since he was a child. The home is now in need of many repairs.

Today, about 20 volunteers from Excellus Action Core came together to work on building him a new one. The house sits across from a church his father had a hand in building.

Kirksey says he’s been touched by the community’s support.

This is the beginning of another era,” said Kirksey. “I feel good to see all these people volunteer to serve and help the needy. It’s a blessing.”

The project has been in the works for over a week and volunteers hope to finish it in about a month.
