The annual Dallas County School District College and Career Fair — gave hundreds of seniors — the opportunity to learn more about higher education — and possible career opportunities.
Ceria Blake is a human resource official at Bush Hog in Selma. She says finding skilled labor has become more challenging since the pandemic.
So, like many other manufacturing companies — Bush Hog has stepped up it’s recruiting efforts to find skilled workers.
“I am down here recruiting to inform people about different jobs that Bush Hog has — and different experience and career opportunities with Bush Hog,” said Blake.
“Manufacturing is more than just assembly and production. You want to tell them about the different career goals we have in office positions, engineering, accounting, all those things, I-T — just educating people on those things that they don’t know about in manufacturing.
Bush Hog was among the 23 businesses — and 15 colleges — represented at the 6th Annual College and Career Fair at Keith High School in Orrville Thursday.
The event provided students with a way to enhance their college and career readiness — and explore available pathways — to achieve their goals for the future.
“I think it was very helpful because like usually you would have to go to multiple places. And I feel like a career fair you’re able to know all about at one time,” said Lidonna Woods.
Over 200 seniors from Dallas County — Southside — and Keith high schools — attended the event.
