A Brief Cold Snap On The Way

As we move into midweek, we remain in a dry and cooler weather pattern. We will finish out the work week with more of the same but It will be over the weekend when we see some significant weather changes coming our way. Another frontal system will approach and there’s the threat for thunderstorms Saturday night into early Sunday.

In the meantime, a dry cold front will pass through the state Wednesday. The air behind it the front is rather chilly and we’re expecting a light freeze Thursday morning. high pressure slips into the region behind the frontal system. This will put us back into a mainly sunny and cool weather pattern to close out the week. . Temps will be running in the lower to mid 60s highs and overnight lows in the 30s. The area of high pressure will gradually move eastward going into the weekend. We pick up a southeasterly wind flow on the westside of the high and that begins to warm us a bit. We’re approaching the upper 60s going into Saturday.

There will be some changes ahead of Saturday and Sunday. Another frontal system will advance eastward into the state. Moisture will be on the increase and we’re expecting a round of showers and storms Saturday night into Sunday. This system will be monitored for the risk of strong to severe storms. At the moment, its a wait and see but I wouldn’t be surprised to see that threat materializes later this week. We will definitely keep you posted on it.
