St. James School names Mark Hall as the new Head Boy’s Basketball Coach

St. James School names Mark Hall their next Head Boy’s Basketball Coach. Hall has served on the athletics staff at St. James since 2017 as the head softball coach. In addition to now being the head boy’s basketball coach and the head softball coach, Hall will also be a physical education teacher for both the middle and high school as well as serving as an assistant middle school football coach.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the boys basketball program at Saint James School,” Hall said. “For the past eight years, I have experienced first-hand the power of the Trojan family and the positive impact an STJ education has on our students. More importantly as a parent, I had a front row seat to the life-changing experience my daughter had at Saint James School. I am excited to continue playing a role in instilling the Trojan core values in our students and helping prepare them for a successful life on and off the court, now and in the future.”

Hall, who is a Montgomery native, had a successful basketball career at Robert E. Lee High School (now known as Percy Julian High School.) During his time in high school, Hall was apart of the 1992 state runner-up team and was a member of the all-state team. After high school, Hall attended Auburn University at Montgomery and played basketball all four years under legendary coach Larry Chapman and assistant coach Nigel Card. In college Hall began his coaching career at Georgia Washington Middle School, then went on to coach basketball and football at Capitol Heights
Middle School. Hall later joined the coaching staff at Evangel Christian Academy in 2013 serving as head boys basketball coach, where the team finished as the state runner-up.

“Coach Hall has been part of our Trojan family for many years, and we are excited that he will lead our boys basketball program and continue building on the success of the softball program,”
said Head of School Dr. Larry McLemore. “As a current member of our athletics staff and the parent of an STJ alumna, he lives out our Trojan core values of Character, Commitment, Courage, and Community in all he does and sets a positive example for the players and students he coaches. He believes in intentionally making team sports an experience for developing character and teaching students lessons that will benefit them throughout their lives.”

Hall is currently the executive director for Montgomery Habitat for Humanity. He and his wife Kelly have two children, son Jordan and daughter KK, who is a 2023 graduate of Saint James School.
