High School Football Preview: Park Crossing
High School Football Preview
Last seasons the Park Crossing Thunderbirds finished up the season with a 3-7 record, and this year first year head coach Charles Biggers looks to get the program back to it’s winning history.
This will be Biggers first head coaching job however, he has had head coaching experience at the middle school level and high school assistant coaching experience at other schools within Montgomery Public Schools.
“What excites me the most is the opportunity to be a head coach on the high school level and get the opportunity to set my mark, as well as lead these young men in a direction for them to be successful and achieve in the classroom, on the field, and in life,” says Biggers.
Several players on this year’s team including; Isaiah Johnson (receiver/ senior) and Marcus Smith (quarterback/ senior) are excited about the new life that Coach Biggers brings to the program.
“He brings more discipline and he’s hard on us to push us to our best ability,” says Johnson.
“Coach Biggers, he’s coming in he’s making us feel comfortable. It was a little shakey at first, but I feel like he is a great coach and he’s going to lead us in the right direction. We learn off of what he knows and just trusting him that’s all we’ve got to do,” says Smith.
The Thunderbirds have not had a winning season since the 2018-2019 season where they went 6-5. But Biggers is hopeful that he can restore this program to what it once was by instilling a strong work ethic into his players.
“Just getting the team as a whole to buy in and just showing them something different as far as preparation from the previous years. No knock on the previous years, but just putting my own spin on it as well as with my staff and just really wanting them to learn how to achieve
and strive for greatness,” says Biggers.
The Thunderbirds kick off the 2024-25 season on August 23rd on the road at Selma.
