Summer-Like Heat Remains And A Tropical Threat Brews In The Gulf This Week!
Fall is underway but summer isn’t going away so easily. We still have a couple days ahead with temps still climbing into the lower to mid 90s for highs. There will be changes coming as a frontal boundary and tropical system converge and increase our rain chances later this week.
In the meantime, you can keep the short pants and flip flops in the wardrobe for several more days. High pressure will continue to help keep us hot and dry. Temps will manage lower to mid 90s for highs through Tuesday afternoon. A few spots may snag 90 degrees Wednesday but the rest of the week temperatures will be trending downward. A frontal boundary moves into the state and our rain chances begin to climb. An increase in clouds and rain coverage will take a dent out of the heat.
Another potential player in our weather will a tropical system taking shape in the Gulf of Mexico. National Hurricane Center has a mark area for a high chance of tropical cyclone develop this week. The forecast models take it a step further and develop a storm and bringing it northward into our gulf coast region Thursday into Friday. There’s still a lot of uncertainty but if the model data is correct, there could be heavy rain and wind coming into parts of the deep south later in the week. We will know more once the tropical system takes on a circulation and a forecast track can be placed on it. Stay tuned!
