Strong To Severe Storm Threat Wednesday Into Thursday

A very active weather pattern is ahead for us this week.  There will be periods of rain and storms.  Some storms could be strong to possibly severe Wednesday into early Thursday.  The rain activity should depart just in time for Valentines Day but there’s more rain and storms ahead for the upcoming weekend.

In the meantime,  we have rain working through the area tonight.  Temps will slowly fall through the 60s for overnight lows.  Wednesday is looking mostly cloudy with showers and occasional t-storms around but temps should manage to reach the mid to upper 70s for highs.  A frontal boundary will approach the state and help trigger heavier rainfall and strong to possibly severe storms.  The main threats will be damaging wind gust up to 60 mph and a few tornadoes.  Everyone will need to be weather aware, especially Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.  Rainfall potential with this storm system will range between 2 to 4 inches.

Late week is setting up to be a bit quieter than the first half.  High pressure will move in behind the frontal passage.  We expect a mainly sunny sky with temps a bit cooler. High temps will manage the upper 60s with lows in the 40s.   All indications are we see lots of sunshine on your Valentines Day.

The upcoming weekend is looking active with another round of rain and storms.  A cold front will approach the state Saturday.  Rain and storms are likely ahead and along the frontal boundary.  This system could produce strong to severe storms Saturday night into Sunday morning.  High pressure will come in behind the front and we’re back to mainly sunny and dry conditions the first part of next week. Temps will be cooler with highs in the lower 60s and lows in the 30s.
