ACTION 8 UPDATE: Four people indicted in fatal shooting at Tuskegee University
ACTION 8 UPDATE: Four people have been indicted in a mass shooting that happened last year on the campus of Tuskegee University that left an 18-year-old dead.
5th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Segrest says the following people were indicted on one count each of firing a gun on school property: 25-year-old Jaquez Ke’Von Myrick, 21-year-old Jaylen Se’Quan Lassic, 20-year-old Romero Frazier II, and 21-year-old La’Darius Ja’Quan Gantt.
Segrest says all four suspects are from Montgomery.
He says Myrick was already in the Montgomery County Detention Facility, while the other three have been arrested and placed in custody.
As Action 8 News has reported, the mass shooting last November left one person dead and 16 others injured. It happened during Tuskegee’s 100th anniversary homecoming weekend.
18-year-old La’Tavion Johnson of Troy was killed in the shooting. University leaders say Johnson was not a Tuskegee University student.
One of those who has been indicted, Jaquez Myrick, was arrested in November on charges that he possessed a handgun that had a machine gun conversion device. The SBI says he was seen leaving the scene. He is facing a federal charge of possessing a machine gun.
