Valiant Cross Academy to open elementary school this fall

Valiant Cross Academy is planning to open an elementary school campus, right in the heart of downtown Montgomery.

The private, Christian school for boys is working to open the school in the old Pizitz building at 1 Court Square, near the fountain at the bottom of Dexter Avenue.

It has already started a K-1 program that is inside the middle school at 301 Dexter Avenue, just up the hill.

The new elementary school will sit between the high school and the middle school campuses with all three in walking distance of each other on the Civil Rights Trail.

“Just to be on the Civil Rights Trail, so much change, I always tell people that this is the most historic street the most historic trail anywhere in the world,” Head of School Anthony Brock told Action 8 News.

“I really feel firmly, I’m from Montgomery. I embrace this soil and just to be on the Civil Rights Trail for doing the work that we are allowed to do, it’s a privilege and it’s an honor, and then to open up the elementary campus right by the fountain for those that know the history of what took place here at this fountain and to be able to educate black males here, you can’t beat it.”

In the fall, Valiant Cross will open a Kindergarten through second grade, with plans to add one grade per year until becoming a K-5 school.

They expect to have about 30 students per grade.
