No Kings rally held at foot of Edmund Pettus Bridge in downtown Selma

Dozens of people in Selma joined others across the country in holding a “No Kings” rally.

Today, the SaveOurselves Movement, led by retired state Sen. Hank Sanders, helped to put on the rally, meant to be a protest of President Donald Trump and his policies, including the deportation of illegal immigrants.

At Selma’s event, speakers addressed several issues including preventing cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and medical research. Other issues included voting rights, education and gun violence.
