Sources: Auburn Player Treated For Injury In Bar Fight

Auburn, AL – Auburn backup center Xavier Dampeer has been treated and released from East Alabama Medical Center, according to a worker at the hospital. A source close to the Auburn football program tells Alabama News Network Sports that Dampeer had his jaw injured after being punched during a fight at SkyBar near the Auburn campus. Yesterday, AL.com reported that dismissed Auburn wide receiver Duke Williams punched four people at SkyBar after being thrown out of the bar early Sunday morning. The source close to the program indicates Dampeer was one of Williams’ alleged victims. The Auburn police department says Williams has not been accused of any criminal act and has not been charged. “We cannot file charges until the injured person(s) comes forward. Unless an officer personally sees a fight, no arrests can be made,” Auburn Police Chief Paul Register told Alabama News Network on Thursday. Auburn Coach Gus Malzahn dismissed Williams from the team Monday night but did not specifically say why he was kicked off. East Alabama Medical Center told Alabama News Network Sports that Dampeer was being treated in the hospital’s outpatient center on Wednesday. He has since been discharged from the hospital. Dampeer’s condition is not known at this time. Alabama News Network Sports has reached out to Auburn University Athletics and Duke Williams. Neither have returned phone calls or text messages regarding the alleged incident.
