Urban League of Alabama expands services in Montgomery
A nonprofit well known for serving local communities is expanding its services in Montgomery.
The Urban League of Alabama is expanding its programs and services that will help local workers support youth with mentoring and violence prevention initiatives.
It also helps provide better access to services for underserved communities.
Last year alone, the Urban League served more than 9,500 people.
“Montgomery’s strength has always come from our people,” Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said. “Their resilience, their talent and their determination. I recommend this expanded presence in our city. We are building new pathways to opportunity for families, entrepreneurs and young people.”
“He said, ‘We have the expertise to be able to bring all of these services to communities, and we’re really going to be led by your leadership as well as the community to kind of guide us into what services we actually are,” William Barnes, the President and CEO of Urban League Alabama, said.
The Urban League has served the state for the past 50 years.
