A state correctional officer has found himself on the other side of the law.

Officials with the Alabama Department of Corrections tell Action 8 that on Saturday, February 28, they were notified of an incident at Kilby Correctional Facility.

At around 2:00 p.m. that day, Correctional Officer Shelley Sharpe was caught concealing contraband.

Authorities say Sharpe had 67 grams of flakka and 86 squares of suboxone strips.

Sharpe was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility on charges of 1st degree possession of a controlled substance and 2nd degree promoting prison contraband.
