The Spring Storm Season Is Underway

The spring storm season is underway and we’re going to have a couple rounds of storms move across our area this week.  The first will be tonight and the second Wednesday night into early Thursday.  Temps will warm leading up to the second round of storms but cooler air is lurking and will spill into the state after the rain moves out Thursday.

In the meantime,  we have the risk for strong to severe storms now through midnight.  Some of the storms could produce damaging wind gust and hail.  The tornado threat is low but not zero. Once past midnight, we’re expecting a partly cloudy sky with temps hovering in the mid 60s. Tuesday is looking partly sunny and warm with highs in the lower to mid 80s. Wednesday is pretty much a repeat with temps maybe a little warmer in the mid to upper 80s.

The next storm system will arrive Wednesday evening and move across the area overnight into early Thursday.  There is another storm threat coming with this system as well.  The main threats will be damaging winds, hail, and possibly tornadoes.  This is favoring an overnight timing so you will need to be sure you have a way to receive warnings.

The latter half of the week will be trending a bit cooler. Northerly winds will kick in and usher in some cooler air to the state.  We may only reach highs in the 60s Thursday afternoon.  Overnight temps will be falling into the lower 40s Thursday night into Friday morning.   High pressure will be building over the region and that will help provide mainly sunny and dry conditions through Saturday. Another frontal system will approach late Sunday and move through the state Monday.  This system will bring in a round of rain and then followed by much cooler air. We could experience lows in the upper 30s early Tuesday morning of next week.
