Strong To Severe Storm Threat Monday Morning
ACTION 8 WEATHER AUTHORITY: A tornado watch is in effect until 4am Monday. The primary threats include: a couple of tornadoes, scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gust to 75 mph (Hurricane Force), and isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible!
The entire Action 8 viewing area is under an ENHANCED RISK (3 out of 5) for severe storms. A line of storms moving through our area will be capable of bringing damaging winds, hail and even a few tornadoes. Winds along and ahead of the line will be sustained at 15 to 20 with gust up to 75mph. We expect this alone could down trees and lead to widespread power outages. Another concern we have is any discrete cells that develop ahead of the line could produce long-lived or strong tornadoes. You will need to be weather aware during the overnight hours Sunday through early Monday morning.
The rest of Monday will be a transition into sunny and colder conditions. Just when you thought we were done with the cold air, old man winter schedules another appearance. We’re expecting temps just below freezing for a couple of mornings early in the week. We’re rebounding back into warmer temperatures by Thursday afternoon. Temps will climb into the 70s for highs and lows in the 50s. Mainly sunny and dry conditions will be the rule and temps will continue to respond. Looks like more 80+ degree warmth going into that following weekend.
